iPod Goes Bluetooth -- I was sitting in the hallway, chatting with Irina Nazarova of the Ukrainian developer BeLight Software when this guy came over and asked us if we'd like to try a Bluetooth headphone for the iPod. I've always hated cords dangling from headphones, and although I fully admit that the iPod's white cables have become almost iconic, I still find them annoying, fussy, and constantly tangled. But the i-Phono Bluetooth dongle and headphone that Bluetake's Clement Wen showed us worked flawlessly and with decent sound. Apparently, the devices can pair with multiple Bluetooth devices, so if you have a Bluetooth cell phone, it automatically cuts the music and switches to the call (the headphone includes a built-in foldable microphone)....

.........I also tested out the phones with Skype on my desktop computer at home. They were very comfortable to wear, and meant I wasn't tethered to my desk while talking to someone or just listening to music. I was even able to keep using them during a flight while I visited the back of the plane. The range varied depending on how much interference was in the area, but generally I could get around 20 to 25 feet from the transmitter.........and in spite of all the compressing and decompressing that was supposed to be going on in the background, I experienced great sound quality. In fact, I never really felt like I was experiencing any compromise in sound quality over reasonably priced wired sets (especially earbuds) unless I strayed too far from the transmitter or got within two feet of a wireless phone......... |

......Now you can use the same wireless headset for your cell phone, PDA, computer and MP3 player, which is very appealing. The convenience and wireless features are compelling. The Bluetake i-Phono has a lot of style. Solid Bluetooth software that works well with a variety of devices. The headset has pretty good range for a Bluetooth peripheral. Good audio quality on MP3 players and desktop/laptop and does decent job on cell phones and PDAs....... |

By pairing the transceiver of the Hi-phono system with the headphones of the i-phono system, you will now have a very nice set of wireless headphones. The pairing of these two products is really what Bluetooth technology is all about. The pairing of the headphones with the transceiver took less than 10 seconds and the results are great! Placing this on a computer centrally located in the house, I was able to get good sound throughout my home. I was even able to walk out my backdoor approximately 20 ft before the unit began to produce static. .....The interoperability is really what made these devices truly functional. I will say that I probably got more use out of the Hi-phono when it was paired with the headphones rather than how it was meant to be used. Having cordless headphones to just listen to music is great. Not having to carry around a small transmitter and an MP3 player was also nice...... |

.....The headset itself is designed as an over-the-neck solution, which is something I like very much. Not only does it look cooler, but it also ensures that your headset has next to no physical content with your hair, this prevents hair spray and / or gel from spoiling the device.......The main reason why you would buy this kind of headset is of course the lack of wires. Advertised as 5-10 meters (16-32 feet) I was amazed that I could still receive a signal, albeit not as clear as it could be, with one floor in between the headset and the receiver. When you are in the same room however the signal is crystal clear.......the BT420EX certainly is ready for Prime Time........ |

......I have to say that I was very impressed by the quality of the sound. Both bass and treble sound great. These headphones blow away ear bud type headphones and are also better than most wired padded headphones.......the headphones also have a drop-down microphone and can be used as a headset for a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone.......I can’t tell you what a joy it was to select some music, set my PDA in the seat pocket and enjoy my music without getting tangled up in the cord. It’s also been fantastic on my daily bus commute. I’ve gone through so many headphones because the cord always breaks inside due to stuffing it into a brief case. I feel like I have so much more freedom to listen with the i-Phono....... . |

......In the end I was very impressed with the iPhono as a concept and as a pair of wireless headphones. It has excellent sound quality and good battery life.......As a headset, the iPhono is also quite good. It does have excellent sound quality but it's maximum earpiece volume could use some work....... |

......This went very good after pairing the devices. The sound quality was alot better then I expected. I experienced this great sound qualithy with all three of the devices.......To listen to my cd's in mp3 format on my portable mp3 player I had to use the dongle. And again the sound quality was outstanding. The thing that I also liked very much was the fact that when listening to music, your sound get's interrupted for a phone call on your mobile device. You can accept the incoming conversation by simply pressing the button. When calling u can use the microphone for speech (duh). Once the phone call is completed, the headphone switches to music again....... |

Like the audio dongle the earpiece sections of the headphones are mostly white: if this does not appeal, snap-on covers turn these red, blue, lime green or orange. More usefully, you get a splitter, making it possible to charge both the audio dongle and the headset at the same time. There's also a mains power adapter and a USB charging cable for emergency charging on the move. And to keep the audio dongle under control when in use, you get a velcro band for attaching it to a portable music player......The process of pairing was straightforward, and the fact that you simply plug the audio dongle into whatever device you want use as an audio source should appeal to anyone with an aversion to fiddly setup procedures.......Audio quality was impressive: the headset performed generally better than earbuds...... |

......The big selling point of this product is its dual capabilities. You can pair this with your Bluetooth capable cellphone and also with the included Bluetooth audio dongle. The result? A pair of wireless audio headphones that also double as a wireless cell phone headset. The real kicker here is that if you receive a cellphone call while your listening to music on the I-PHONO, you will be notified of the call, and you will have the option of receiving the call straight on the headset. It's quite an interesting concept and we're sure it will appeal to users who have Bluetooth support in their phone yet who have not yet purchased a Bluetooth headset. ......the music quality is superb for a device of this type. I have very limited experience using headphones in general, but out of the dozen or so casual listening headphones I've gone through, the I-Phono easily matches or beats the best of them. ......The BlueTake i-PHONO BT420 Bluetooth Hi-Fi Sports Headphone is a unique, well designed and functional product. It does exactly what the manufactures claim it will do and it does it well. Before using the i-PHONO, I expected the sound to be choppy or low quality, but I was pleasantly proved wrong during testing.....Play the music from the audio device and sound will now stream though the BT420 Headphone's, wirelessly and clearly. During testing, we were able to leave the audio device on the desk and walk around the room with no distortion or loss of sound.......Whilst enjoying music, the BT420 can receive or make phone calls easily through the built-in foldable microphone and the embedded "auto switching" technology, in essence, when a phone call arrives, the BT420 will stop playing the music and the user will hear the Mobile Phone's ring tone playing and can answer and end the call by pressing the Talk Button on the right speaker. After the call has ended, the BT420 will revert to the music stream....... |

......To my surprise, the sound quality was very good. As good as any Panasonic or Sony street style headphones. Overall sound was very clear with strong......If the headphone is paired with a Bluetooth enabled cellphone, the pair button can be used to answer and end calls. When listening to music, if there is a call, the i-PHONO has an "auto-switching" feature. This means when you push the pair button on the headphone to answer the call, the headphone will stop playing music. When the pair button is pressed again to end the call, music will resume......In the ideal future all portable audio players will have built-in Bluetooth transmitters so that any Bluetooth headphone can be used with any audio player, just like wired headphones. Until then, the i–PHONO Bluetooth Headphone Kit is a great way to sample a bit of the future...... |

.......The BT430 adapter can be plugged into any standard stereo audio plug, on any sound device. Think of your Pocket PC, Apple iPOD, laptop, portable DVD player, Minidisc player, Home Theatre receiver, or even the airplane seat!......The BT420 headphone sits comfortably around the neck when open, and the sound itself is really good. It's clear and crisp, even when loud.......it comes another cool feature: you can pair the headphone with a mobile phone too! While you're exercising, or watching a movie, you're still connected. As soon as your mobile phone rings, the headphone will switch from the sound stream to the mobile phone and the ring will play......In short, it's a very nifty product. I've seen some easy to use Bluetooth devices before (mainly LAN Access Points, which are plug-and-play), but this one is very easy. A well thought product, and nicely done....... |

......The audio quality is very good. Better than what I expected it to be actually. Compared to all my other headphones (even my favorite B&O's), the BT420's stood up extremely well.......The BT420's are compatible with various mobile phones. If you have a phone that is compatible, you'll be able to also talk to people using the microphone. A bonus feature with these headphones is their auto switching ability. If you're listening to music and a phone call comes in on your mobile phone, you will hear the ring on both the phone and through the headphones. You can press the pairing button on the headphones and switch over to talking on the phone. Pretty cool! I wish I would have been able to test this......The i-PHONO's are a break out product that work great with the dongle........ |
